Warm Mittens for a Cool Town!

Be one of the cool kids! The Flying Canoe Volant Festival has got to be one of the most creative festivals around. It is a bilingual, family-focused, outdoor, community event that is a celebration of cultures, communities and the magic of a long winter's night. We will be located inside the 'general store' from 6 - 10 pm starting on February 2, each night until the 4th.

If you're out and about, you can find some of the coolest mittens in town at a coffee shop or art gallery near you - until the snow melts!

Head on down to Tix on the Square in the heart of Edmonton where you will find our mittens just hanging around. (9930-102 Ave, Churchill Square)

OR over to the Art Gallery of St. Albert. Give yourself time to peruse the gallery and the gift shop, it's a gem. (19 Perron Street, St. Albert)

OR the Carrot Community Arts Coffee House  which is a fun little place to meet, work, laugh, and create, and features live music and open mic Saturdays. (9351-118 Avenue, NW)

OR stop the car! (or the bus!) at the Tiny Shop Upstairs! Right here in the French Quarter! 30 artisans nestled in this cute little shop....upstairs! (#202, 8815-92 Street)

jj wool company

In late November 2013, we began sewing mittens from recycled wool sweaters as a fund raiser for a once in a lifetime charity bike ride the following year. We reached our goal and then rode 1800 kms home from Haida Gwaii, BC with a custom carved totem pole, which you can now see at the Stollery Children's Hospital in Edmonton. The demand for these mittens and the amount of fun we had creating these little works of art moved us, literally, and after much deliberation, we created the jj wool company!

But we haven’t just stood still… we continue to ride our bikes everywhere and are constantly inspired by the variety of gorgeous wool garments we've found. We've created a whole bunch of new clothing and accessories... from our ‘get your ass outside’ sweater skirts to the smallest of Dumpling pouches.
