We haven't made stockings for a few years but we are really happy with these new ones. We make them using three inch strips from wool sweaters or suit jackets. Bits from material that was originally used for mittens or skirts and bags. We sew the strips together to make fabric and then cut them out in the sock shape. Each heel and toe on the front and the back are overlayed with boiled wool material to give them that old time feeling. Some of the stockings have a fringe from one of the many scarves we've used and there's a leather strap for hanging them beside the fireplace just in time for the visit from Santa.
